Seventeen minutes with a Shark. Collaborate and make technology cool.
For those who participate in the creatorbase community via this blog, Twitter and Facebook -- you may know that I attended an open audition in Dallas/June 2011 for ABC Shark Tank season 3 that came to an end on May 18th. No, I didn't appear in season 3 but, like millions of other fans, I watched many episodes and learned a few things along the way.
And if you really know me well, you probably heard I just completed a direct audition with Shark Tank producers for the upcoming season 4. I'd prefer not to share where I stand at this point; you'll have to watch the new season to see if I make it to the Tank. Regardless of the TV outcome, I absolutely support entrepreneurs and enjoy being one fulltime for Ektron and on weekends with my family. And I encourage any large scale initiative -- including reality TV, online communities and conferences -- that help to drive ideas, education, employment, business success and the economy.
So you can imagine the situation I found myself in when I recently interviewed Daymond John from Shark Tank about his CNP Expo keynote and 2012 plans. No problem, I resisted the tempation to pitch him while we met for 17 minutes in a private room. Instead, I focused on completing a good interview in one take and keeping things professional between us. Daymond shared his thouhgts in the video above about collaboration and making technology cool including his signature 'SHARK' points.
Never shy away from opportunity and know when/how best to engage with all things considered. But remember, you have to be in it to win it.
