Nigel Marsh on How to Make Work-Life Balance Work

Thanks to TED talks, ideas and observations like these from Nigel Marsh's 2010 appearance in Sydney are timeless and highly useful. This is especially true in our modern society where various technologies enable us to be more connected and working from virtually anywhere, anytime. But work-life balance can quickly and irreversibly slip away when you're always on.

Nigel_Marsh_TedIf you're thinking about how to improve your work-life balance, Nigel suggests "we need to approach balance in a balanced way. Being more balanced doesn't mean dramatic upheaval in your life." I agree and if you rely on technologies at home and work, try to use them to automate and simplify your life instead of becoming all-consuming. Focus on improving your quality of life and not how you can work more hours.
